A ten volume set of early 20th century three-quarter leather bindings. Ornately gilt spines w/ gilt title and volume numbers; gilt is bright, leather exhibits minimal rubbing at spine
extremities, volume 10 spine is chipped a bit at head and leather is slightly faded. Three-quarter leather and marbled paper covered boards are mostly clean and leather is mostly smooth and supple w/ several volumes exhibiting leather scuffing/peeling at board corners w/ a few corners showing split leather, some
edgewear. But this is largely insignificant since the shelf appearance is so nice. Volume 10 is a bit dampstained internally. Supplementary volume one leather chipped a bit at head, leather slightly darkened (but nothing severe and still looking nice overall in the set). Bindings all remain tight and sound.

Text blocks are very bright and clean. Profusely illustrated w/ hundreds if not thousands of great period photos of these many countries; several colored photos throughout. Photos depict the towns and peoples of these numerous areas as they once existed and is now largely gone. We note much on the culture of these regions in the time before 20th century westernization. Charming floral endpapers in silver gilt and green.
