An attractive two volume set of mid-19th century period full leather bindings. Ornately gilt spines in six compartments, gilt titles on leather labels; lacks volume two title label and date label (from tail). Boards are ruled in gilt w/ gilt devices at the corners, leather mostly smooth and supple w/ slight shallow scuffing and (what appears to be) very light dampstaining in the upper corners of the top board on volume two. Lovely patterned gilt inner dentelles. Binding very slightly cocked (not at all noticeable). t.e.g.
Text blocks are mostly clean. Foxing confined to the first and last few pages. Pastel marbled endpapers.
In VG+ condition w/ some wear. An attractive complete two volume set of 19th century leather bindings w/ an appealing shelf appearance. Signed bindings "Root and Son".
Books measure c. 5 7/8" x 8 3/4". 515 / 584 pp.
