An ornately gilt early 20th century tan publisher's cloth. Gilt title on smooth spine, small corner on bottom of spine slightly darkened but not visually detracting. Intricately gilt top board w/ gilt title, elephants and peacocks; boards are bright and clean.
Mostly clean internally w/ a touch of minor light foxing to endpapers but plates and contents are very clean. Complete w/ twenty tipped-in beautifully colored plates w/ descriptive tissue guards. Color plates are embossed in rule w/ lovely intricate, gilt borders; text blocks embossed in rule w/ green floral devices. Frontis depicts, "Wake! for the Sun behind you Eastern height / Has chased the Session of the Stars from Night." Previous owner's inscription on corner of f.f.e.
Overall, in VG+ to near fine antiquarian condition. Beautifully preserved quarto edition w/ appealing contents. A wonderful edition.
