Gorgeous three volume matching set of full red crushed morocco bindings. Heavily ornately gilt spines w/ title and volume number, raised bands; spine leather is slightly darkened w/ an, overall, lovely shelf appearance. Rich gilt decorations on all boards, gently worn. Joint leather is gently rubbed, volume two suffers a small crack at the head of the front joint, but board remains firmly attached. Charming patterned gilt inner dentelles. Bindings are tight and sound. a.e.g. Mostly clean internally. Appears to be extra illustrated w/ a profusion of finely engraved plates. Signed bindings by Proudfoot of London. In VG+ condition. A highly appealing three volume set of 19th century red leather fine bindings. Volumes measure c. 6" x 8 3/4" 1007 pp + appendix + index, continuous pagination.
