A handsome early 20th century publisher's period 3/4 leather binding. Gilt title and author on spine w/ raised bands, spine leather a bit cracked and rubbed near the tail. Three-quarter leather and tan cloth boards are mostly clean w/ minimal wear. Joint leather rubbed but holding firmly and the binding remains tight and sound.
Mostly clean internally w/ very scattered foxing; profusely illustrated with lithographed plates. Lithographed frontis, with tissue guard, depict "Portrait of the Artist (By Himself)".
In VG+ condition w/ a profusion of lithographed plates depicting Whistler's art in a contemporary leather binding.
Measures 7" x 8 1/2." 452 pp.
