A large mid-19th century period full leather binding. Title in gilt on black leather spine label and a second label, "1000 Engravings."  Leather is slightly worn but, overall, smooth and supple.   Binding tight and sound.

Internally foxed w/ a profusion of engravings (over one thousand).  Charming engraved half title, profusely illustrated with hundreds of woodcuts, several maps and city plans w/ one double page map "Principal Cities of the United States", etc. Chapter on the Republic of Texas (3 page section) covering various aspects of this settlement/ state.

In all, this 19th century full leather binding is in VG+ condition, gently worn, fantastic illustrations. A nice example.

Measures 7 1/4" x 10 1/2." 1008pp. Quite a large book, shipping will cost approximately $8 within the US.
