A charming early 20th century period green half leather binding. Spine in six compartments w/ central gilt devices, gilt title and author, gilt raised bands, leather gently rubbed along extremities, spine lightly discolored. Gilt ruled leather and green cloth boards w/ some corner wear. Leather rubbed at joint ends. Binding tight and sound. a.e.g. Scattered foxing throughout the text block. Numerous b&w plates from photographs depicting this Swiss region. Frontis, with tissue guard, depict "The Great Pines." One page suffers a tear (page 57). Previous owner's inscription on second free endpaper, "...Hildenheimer 29, Mai 1909." Lovely green endpapers. An attractive 20th century green leather binding for this novel of a popular sanatorium frequented by the rich of Europe.
