Moral Sketches - 1830
A charming early 19th century half black leather binding. Gilt-ruled spine in five compartments w/ gilt title and author, thick patterned gilt raised bands and compartments are blindstamped in rule - all with the result of a very attractive shelf appearance; minimal wear. Leather is supple and smooth and boards are mostly very clean, half leather and paper covered boards w/ some slight rubbing to the paper and board edges/ corners (all very minor and hardly worth mentioning). Leather on boards is blindstamped in rule. Binding tight and sound. Marbled edges. Text block is mostly clean w/ very light dampstaining on the first and last few pages (confined to the endpapers and NOT the actual text block). Bookplate on inside front board, "Barlborough Hall - Robur Menum Deus" and small binders sticker on f.f.e, "Rich's". Marbled endpapers match boards. In all, an attractive early 19th century period leather binding; scarce title rare in fine binding. Book measures c. 5" x 7 3/4". 352 pp. Ordering: Please use the Buy Me button below, or phone the shop to order this map.
