A handsome eight volume matching set with leather spines.  Spines are in six compartments, gilt raised bands, gilt "E. de L." near tails, gilt title on contrasting red leather labels; a second set of title labels beneath these red labels has been removed from each volume; leather spines are smooth and supple with some discoloration near the spine ends and the gilt is gently rubbed.  An attractive shelf appearance, in all.  Paper covered boards are mostly clean with some chipped paper found at the board edges.  Upper top board corner is bumped (to the point of being cracked) on volumes two and three.  Bindings are tight and sound. Fore- and bottom edges deckled.

Text blocks are mostly very clean.  Volume one frontis depicts a portrait of Montesquieu by H. C. Muller. Bookplates on inside front boards, "Edward de Lima". Lima's inscription on the half title pages.

Overall, an attractive mid-19th century eight volume matching set.

Books measures c. 6" x 9".
