Biographical Review - 1897 

A large handsomely embossed and gilt late 19th century period full leather binding.  Smooth spine in five, patterned gilt-ruled compartments with gilt title and decorative gilt devices; leather and gilt are rubbed but the overall effect is an appealing shelf appearance with a lovely patina.  Boards are blindstamped in rule, top board exhibits a large and decorative central gilt title; leather frayed at board corners.  Leather is, overall, rubbed but smooth, the wear is nothing atypical or severe for a book of this size and vintage.  Lovely patterned gilt inner dentelles.  Binding is tight and sound. a.e.g.

Text block is mostly quite clean with only uniform light age-toning.  Numerous full page b&w portraits throughout. Inscription on free endpaper "This book was bought in September 1897 for it I paid fifteen dollars fool and his money soon parted when I am done with it, it is to belong to Authr M Duston (?) - Rufus P. Copps."

A wonderful late 19th century comprehensive history of the leading citizens of Merrimack and Sullivan Counties in decorative full leather.
