Two lovely mid-19th century publisher's period blindstamped blue cloth bindings. Ornate gilt title on smooth spine, cloth nicked at spine ends. Boards are mostly bright and clean with intricate blindtooled designs, corners are gently bumped, minimal edgewear. Bindings are tight and sound. a.e.g.
Text block is mostly clean. Lovely Victorian devices at chapter heads with similar device at chapter ends. Frontis, with tissue guard, depicts Hawthorne with facsimile signature. Brown endpapers.
In VG+ antiquarian condition. A charming matching two volume set of 19th century cloth bindings and a nice collection of Hawthorne's short stories.
Books measure c. 3 3/4" x 5 3/4". 392/ 428 pp.
