Islands of Titicaca - 1910
A clean early 20th century publisher's period red cloth binding, ex-libris. Gilt title on smooth spine, small nick in cloth at spine head, cloth rubbed near tail and tiny "stack" sticker. Publisher's logo blindstamped on front board. Overall, a clean ex-libris with minimal wear. Binding tight and sound. Deckled edges. Appears to have been rarely used. Text block mostly very clean with a profusion of full page plates with titled tissue guards. Eighty-five full page photographs, maps and color and b&w illustrations in all, frontis depicts photo of "The peaks of Sorata (Hanko-uma or Illampu and Hanko-Kunu or Hilampi) from the port of Chililaya. Folding maps include "Longitudinal Section of Titicaca Isld." and "Mapa Topografico de la Laguna de la Paz y de Chucuito". Ex-libris stamp in blind on title and contents page, bookplate inside front board and pocket pasted at rear. Overall, a massive and uncommon early 20th century scholarly work on Titicaca and Koati full of photos and illustrations. A clean ex-libris example.
