Etude sur Mirabeau - 1834

Author: Victor Hugo
Full Title: Etude sur Mirabeau
Published:

Paris: Adolphe Guyot, 1834

A lovely example of this heavily gilt 19th century period half leather binding. Ornately bright gilt spine in six compartments, gilt raised bands, gilt title and author. Leather rubbed at spine tail. Half gilt-ruled leather and brown marble paper covered boards are attractive and clean with only very minor edgewear.

Light scattered foxing throughout text block. Text in French. Three charming bookplates on inside front board and f.f.e. - "Mildred Bliss - Dumbarton Oaks - At the Gates of Dawn", "Robert Wood Bliss - Dumbarton Oaks" and "Jan Karel Gevers, 23-6-81".

A very appealing early 19th century period french leather binding of this scarce Hugo title. With a great provenance, indicating it is a rare and valuable book.

Book measures c. 8 1/2" H x 5 3/4."  91 pp.
