Uncontinuous pagination, c. 175 pp. per volume and three volumes per book (so 12 volumes contained in 4 volumes).
Nice set in 19th century leather bindings. Gilt raised bands, gilt titles, all edges gilt. With a profusion of 72 finely engraved portrait plates. Each biography has a portrait to accompany it. Mostly clean and tight internally. Bindings exhibit some minor light overall wear, but nothing severe or offensive.
Books measure c. 5 7/8" H x 3 7/8".
