Works of Bossuet - 1844
A charming four volume set of mid-19th century French purple/ black full leather bindings. Boards are ornately embossed, outlined in gilt rules. Smooth spines heavily gilt with rules, devices and titles. Leather displays some chipping to heads, couple of joints are cracked, some rubbing. Text blocks are tight, overall bindings are holding firmly. Clean ex-libris, old pockets on front free endpapers of each volume, small circular purple rubber stamps, small blindstamps, but otherwise quite clean and tight. Some minor light browning to some of the paper. Scarce set in French with nice shelf appearance. Books measure c. 6 3/8" H x 4 1/4."
