French Revolution - 1843
Volume 1, 435 pp; volume 2, 458 pp; volume 3, 432 pp and volume 4, 472 pp. A set of mid-19th century publisher's period brown cloth bindings. Gilt-ruled, gilt title on smooth spine, spine cloth light brown and very lightly soiled. Dark brown - purple boards are mostly clean with only minor rubbing; volume 3 is extensively dampstained internally and the boards are gently warped. Mostly clean internally, light scattered foxing throughout all four. Again, volume 3 suffers some dampstaining to the pages but this is generally light and the text is legible throughout. Attractive steel engraved frontis in each. Volume 1 depicts "Orgies of the Gardes du Corps"; volume 2, "Louis 16th Before the Convention."; volume 3, "Danton" and volume 4, "Return of the Royal Family from Varennes." plus several engravings throughout each volume. Still, a very nice example of a multi-volume early American publishers cloth binding, by one of the premier publishers in America at this date, scarce thus. Books measure c. 9 1/4" H x 6". Due to size and weight, this set will run around $10 to ship insured within the US. Ordering: Please use the Buy Me button below, or phone the shop to order this map.
