With a suite of 10 folio Moll maps, including maps of ancient Greece, ancient Italy, Balkans, Palestine, Asia, Europe, etc.
Two volumes, folio, in period full leather bindings. Pleasingly embossed paneled boards in style typical of the era. Boards detached, leather heavily worn with edge chipping, yet still attractive. Titles in gilt on contrasting spine labels. Internally sound, text blocks still sewn tightly, square, complete with blank endpapers. Appears to have once belonged to a 19th century Theological school library, with early bookplate but virtually little else to indicate this former ownership.
With (what could be a supplemental?) suite of 10 fine unfolded folio maps of the ancient world, almost certainly engraved by Herman Moll + 2 engraved cross- section plans. Maps mostly very clean, strong dark impressions, paper supple and white. One of the maps with some marginal writing outside the engraved area. Virtually no offsetting to the maps- overall remarkably clean and nice.
Each volume measures 9 1/4" W x 14" H. vol 1: 831pp + index, vol 2: 830 pp + Discourse Concerning the Mercy of God to Penitent Sinners.
A scarce set to encounter complete, worthy of rebacking and retaining the original tooled leather boards and labels; also a fine cartographic association set, much scarcer than Moll's numerous smaller classical atlases which were issued in various editions around this precise era in London (and elsewhere). Appears to be rather uncommon complete thus.
A large heavy set, perhaps $12 to ship/ insure via UPS within the US.
