Second Edition.
An attractive early 19th century period half leather binding. Smooth gilt-ruled spine in six gilt-ruled compartments, gilt title on contrasting red leather label; leather shows small scuff in third compartment (see photo) but is easily repaired. Clean and bright marbled paper covered boards, blind-stamped hearts outline leather; boards gently worn at extremities, a little of the paper is missing from the cover but due to the marbled design, it is unnoticeable. Front joint cracked but firmly attached. Mostly clean internally, only the very mildest foxing present. Binding tight and sound, text block tight and square. A nice example of this collectible book.
In all, a very nice example of this early 19th century work of literature in a nice early binding (perhaps even contemporary to publication?). Also with nice shelf appearance.
Uncommon thus. Book measures c. 5 1/2" W x 8 3/4" H. 452 pp.
