Tales of a Grandfather - 1831
Charming early 19th century set bound in early half leather. Gilt title and volume number on smooth spine, gilt-ruled compartments; leather supple with a very attractive shelf appearance. Marbled paper boards gently rubbed, leather at corners gently worn but overall retains a nice well preserved appearance. Leather at joints very slightly worn, hardly noticeable or worth mentioning. Pages exhibit scattered foxing, nothing severe. Inside of boards have old small red wax seals applied to them; these can be chipped off with a few minutes time. Each book has plate "A. R. Pope, Cambridge, Mass.". Books measure c. 3 3/4" W x 5 3/4" H. A fine set by a prominent and important American publishing firm. Vol 1: 232 pp; vol 2: 236 pp. Ordering: Please use the Buy Me button below, or phone the shop to order this map.
