History of Birds - 1843
A charming miniature mid 19th century juvenile chapbook in the original paper wraps binding. Printed wrap depicts a bird on the cover and elaborate floral outlines, rear lists all 12 of the titles in the Rufus Merrill & Co.'s (two cents) Toys series; corners a little dog-eared. Paper wraps splitting at spine but o/w binding still holding firm. Mostly clean internally, charming woodcuts of each bird described. Shows the eagle, gooseander, widgeon, heron, bittern, tern, curlew and the woodcock. A wonderfully preserved and quite scarce mid-19th century illustrated children's book published in Concord, New Hampshire.
