Published:

New York, 1825:

A most interesting early 19th century period full leather binding which shows its age but is still tight and sound. Smooth spine ornately gilt and ornamented, now quite rubbed and worn. Each compartment has a large central gilt device separated a geometric gilt pattern. Text block is sound and tight, although it does open to one spot where a signature has come a bit loose. Text block is evenly toned with some light scattered foxing.

Facing the title page is a very charming engraved frontispiece depicting 20 historical figures in miniature. These include Jefferson, Washington, Homer, Shakespeare, Napoleon, Lafayette, etc. Frontis is spotted as seen, but still quite charming.

Book measures c. 7 1/3" H x 4 1/3" W.    444 pp.
