Die Gartenlaube (The Summer House). A massive folio volume (measures c. 12 2/4" H x 9 1/2 " W x 2+" thick) . This was an illustrated family newspaper ("Illustrirtes Familienblatt"). 870 pages, with a very lengthy detailed index at the front. Loads of articles and woodcut illustrations, somewhat in the style of Harpers weekly. Interesting and certainly uncommon.
Original half leather binding, title and date stamped in gilt on spine, raised bands gilt, somewhat worn but still holding firmly. Pages evenly toned as typical for newspapers of this vintage
