Both books are clean and tight, with nice shelf appearance. The paper used was highly acidic, so it has turned a uniform brown and is somewhat brittle. But textblocks are still tight and solid. Spines with raised bands, ornately gilt compartments, contrasting leather spine labels, some minor rubbing but nothing bad. The title label is lacking from Martin Chuzzlewit as you can see. Still, overall very nice Dickens in 19th century leather
