Taschenbuch der Reisen - 1802
Title pages display purple rubber stamps from an old German library. Nice group of 10 vols in 7. Period 1/4 brown calf leather binding, gilt-ruled bands, titles in contrasting leather labels, each volume profusely illustrated with striking fold-out engravings of scenes from exotic lands. In VG+ condition, gently worn, bindings sound, very clean internally. Clean ex-libris, rubber library stamp on title pages, but no other markings. Each volume measures c. 3 3/4" W x 6 H". With a profusion of charming and skillfully executed engravings (approx. 81) and folding maps (4), appears to collate complete to count given on title pages. Covers areas such as Persia, Japan, Africa, Indonesia, Malacca, Siam, China, Bhutan, etc. Very scarce group uniformly bound and so well preserved.
