Tailor of Gloucester - 1903
"The Tailor of Gloucester," by Beatrix Potter. New York: Frederick Warne & Co., (1903). Gray/brown paper covered boards, rhomboidal color pastedown plate on front board, color plates throughout. Double-page end-papers, occurring twice (at front and rear of book). 88 pp. 27 color plates. Each page is blank on the reverse. Appears to be the first American edition, and was stated to be such by the collector we recently bought it (and several others) from. Happy to answer any questions you might have about "points". In VG+ condition internally, mostly clean, with some gentle wear, child's ownership handwriting on 3d page in. The fragile binding is sound and sturdy, mostly clean with a couple of tiny marks as seen. Short splits of the paper boards along the gutters as almost inevitable, but very minimal and not affecting the strength of the binding. 24mo- Book measures 4" x 5 3/4". In all, a very nice example of this scarce early edition. Ordering: Please use the Buy Me button below, or phone the shop to order this map.
